Thrive in partnership with Hapai Te Hauora Tapui Ltd, the NZ Mental Health Foundation and others have come together to host and facilitate, with the Ministry of Health the only Whanau Maori Hui in Tamaki Makaurau.

We know that “Suicide or Whakamomori is a serious issue for all Maori. It affects us all because we all know someone in our whanau who we’ve lost to suicide.” “Maori youth, in particular Maori men under the age of 25 years experience the highest suicide rates”. “This is wrong and simply not good enough. This Government needs to be doing more by involving Maori at all levels and in developing Maori solutions that actually work for Maori.”

Please if able read the Draft Strategy before the Hui. This can be found on the Ministry of Health's website:http://www.health.govt.nz/publication/strategy-prevent-suicide-new-zealand-draft-public-consultation
