Hapai currently have a mix of projects that include advocating for regular media to profile youth achievements, youth development and advocacy, training for people who work with youth and facilitating positive changes to local policies and practices with Otahuhu Rugby League and Kokiri Te Rahuitanga in Otara. We also have a project which looks at Community Mobilization to reduce drug supply.

More recently we were involved in a CAYAD regional project which included working alongside other CAYAD kaimahi in Auckland to inform and consult with our communities-Otara, Otahuhu and Papatoetoe to have their say on the Alcohol in Our Lives by attending public forums, through oral and written presentations. We are currently working with other Auckland CAYAD sites to prepare our communities for the review of the Misuse of Drugs Act-MODA which will be a National CAYAD project.

If you are interested in finding out more about the CAYAD kaupapa at a local or national level please contact Thomas Strickland on 09 520 4796 ext 212 or by email at thomas.strickland@hapai.co.nz
